S T gill Rundle St Adelaide 1845

The cover for my book was designed by Katie Stewart, of Magic Owl Design, who just happens to be my amazingly talented sister. The image comes from a painting (actually, a photo of the painting) by S. T. Gill, who captured many scenes from the early days of Australia’s history with his paintbrush and pencils.
It shows Rundle St in Adelaide in 1845, looking east from King William St towards Beehive Corner and Faulding’s chemist. More details can be found on the State Library of South Australia site (image B3703). The original painting can be seen at the Art Gallery of South Australia.
